Our Physicians
Dr. Adam Shapiro
Dr. Adam Shapiro is a magna cum laude graduate of Emory University where he completed his premedical curriculum. He received two scholarships to attend the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine where he served as both Class President and President of the honor society. Upon completion of his medical training, Dr. Shapiro was selected from over 230 applicants to enter the three-year Podiatric Surgical Residency Program at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. During his final year of residency, Dr. Shapiro was named a Chief Resident and focused his training on diabetic wound management and limb salvage.
Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Shapiro is active in several professional organizations including the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society and the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Shapiro is certified in total contact casting by the Long Hansen's Disease Center, extracorporeal shockwave therapy for the treatment of heel pain and in internal fixation for the foot and ankle. Dr. Shapiro is an avid runner, a boating enthusiast and enjoys travelling.
Dr. Matthew C. Liwski
Dr. Matthew C. Liwski is a high honors graduate of Syracuse University where he completed his Bachelor of Science and premedical curriculum. Dr. Liwski was a scholarship varsity athlete and rowed for Syracuse University all four years. He then received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia where he served on several board positions including class treasurer and delegate. Upon completion of his medical training, Dr. Liwski was accepted to one of the most prestigious surgical residency programs in the United States, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This programs’ training focused on lower extremity revision, deformity correction as well as total limb salvage. During his final year of residency Dr .Liwski was named Chief Resident.
Dr. Liwski specializes in all aspects of Podiatric medicine and surgery with an emphasis on lower limb reconstructive surgery which encompasses trauma, congenital/acquired deformities and diabetic limb salvage.
Dr. Liwski is active in several state and national organizations for the advancement of patient care and professional standards including the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society and the American Podiatric Practice Management Academy.
Dr. Liwski is qualified for treatment in ankle arthroscopy, pediatric clubfoot casting and AO/OSIF treatments for trauma of the lower extremity. Dr. Liwski is an avid gym goer, an outdoors enthusiast and continues to maintain his pre-professional education in personal training.
